Our insurance on king post alignment is the two tiny ball bearings we install in both faces of the post. One bearing services the right-hand section, the other the left-hand. This design has been found very effective in minimizing friction and alignment problems as the flute grows older.

Ball Bearings
Besides the thumb keys, the greatest area of friction and wear occurs at the
king post, located between the right- and left-hand sections. Nine keys apply
force to the king post, and it is imperitave that the bearings for both major
sections stay frictionless and in perfect alignment if the action is to remain
flawless.
Needless to say, we have always been concerned that our flutes be reliable
in this critical area.
